VACANCY- Communications and Visibility Officer

 The Amerindian Peoples Association invites suitably qualified persons to apply for the part time position of Communications and Visibility Officer.
  • Promote visibility of the organisation;
  • Provide and support communication links with the organisation’s membership;
  • Develop information briefs/newsletters for the communities, and for wider distribution;
  • Organise press conferences and other publicity events for the organisation;
  • Draft press releases, statements and other publicity material for the organisation;
  • Keep APA website updated with press releases and other information material on the work of the organisation;
  • Use APA Facebook page and other social media links to publicise the work of the organisation or to bring to notice issues of importance to indigenous communities and the public at large;
  • Provide technical support for the organisation’s youth media programme.
Qualification and Experience:
  • Degree in Communication studies or equivalent (Professional certification would be an asset);
  • 3-5 years experience in communication and publicity;
  • Advance PC skills (Microsoft office; Desktop Publishing softwares; Web designing softwares; Video editing Softwares; etc)
  • Experience using Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and other social media;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Strong English language writing skills;
  • Must be able to travel to interior communities from time to time.
