FLEGT VPA

The lands and forests of many indigenous communities in Guyana have been under pressure for a number of years and continue to be so from the activities of large-scale logging and mining concessions awarded by state agencies. The following videos were produced under the project “Promoting the participation of indigenous peoples in the FLEGT VPA process”. As a result of many communities requesting material to be made available in their own languages, the APA was able to produce two videos in 4 different indigenous languages; Akawaio, Patamuna, Macushi and Wapichan.
